Now for the secrets we worked so hard to hide. Under the hood you will find a custom built 500 CID Big Block. This monster was fitted perfectly into it’s under the hood compartment with many hours of careful planning and machine work. This was not a cut and stuff installation. It was professionally fit to maximize the space with the factory compartment. The chosen block was a 1971 460 Ford Big Block with a custom stroker kit balanced and professionally assembled to create our desired 500 CID power plant. 10.3 compression allows pump gas operation. 93CC Ford heads with hardened seats, roller rockers, Edelbrock Performer-Plus cam and intake, double roller timing seat, chrome oil pan, custom powder coated bracketry and alternator. Vintage holly aluminum valve covers were given a 3 stage powder coat finish with polished raised ribbing. MSD electric ignition housing was refurbished to match. The motor breaths out of a set of 1 ¾ block hugger headers into 2 ½ aluminized pipes that were powder coated with a finish able to withstand temperatures over 1200 degrees. The motor purrs as it idles, but with a simple flick of your big toe will pin you to your seat. The fire and fuel are delivered to this power plant by a holly Commander 950 fuel injection system taking its lead from a MSD6-AL ignition and power coil setup, with computer controlled ignition and cool fan.
The cooling is accomplished by a 2 core high flow aluminum radiator. .9mm Ford racing spark plug wires were used and a custom serpentine belt system to drive the alternator and air conditioning unit.
The transmission is a C-6 automatic transmission with “Indy Red” performance clutches and band, stock torque converter stall speed.
